Mandy Nash

I trained a jeweller, and, over the last twenty five years, I have been introducing textiles, especially feltmaking, into my practice. I find sanctuary in the mediative, feltmaking process, which allows time for reflection. The tactility of felt offers great comfort - touch something that feels good, you feel good too.

Wool is a natural, sustainable and versatile material. The different characteristics of the wide variety of sheep breeds offer endless possibilities to create both functional and nonfunctional pieces.

I am involved in many craft groups and associations. I am a regional co-ordinator and past Chair of the International Feltmakers Association. I am a member of the Makers Guild in Wales, the Association of Contemporary Jewellery, the Society of Designer Craftsmen, Design Nation and of MaP, a textile group. I have exhibited widely and also teach regularly, passing on my skills and experience.
